Dear Parents,
Here is some information about our learning for the week beginning 22nd February.
Maths
- Revision of Unit 5.
- End of Unit Assessment for Unit 5.
- Multiplication and division number stories.
- Strategies for division.
Language
- Speaking and Listening - Presenting an oral presentation: We will be completing our Unit of Inquiry presentations. We have been very impressed by the standard and efforts of all students. Excellent!
- Reading: Reading tasks (in Red Books) and reading comprehensions have been given out. These are to be returned on Sunday.
Please make sure that your child has a regular reading routine. Please write a comment in their small green books once you have heard them read.
-Spellings: New spellings were put on Edmodo on Sunday. They will be tested on 22/2.
-Grammar: We will be broadening our vocabulary by finding synonyms (words with a similar meaning) and antonyms (words with an opposite meaning). Also, we will be learning spellings and meanings of homophones (words which wound the same, but have different meanings).
-Writing: To conclude our work on biographies, we will give the children a writing assessment where they will be asked to write a biography unaided. Previously we have split the two classes however, the students will now remain with their homeroom teacher. The unaided writing will give information to the teachers to inform their planning.
Unit of Inquiry
We will be completing our Unit of Inquiry Summative Assessments this week. We will be looking at and discussing the UN Charter of Child Rights. Students will be asked to explain which ones they believe to be the most important. To conclude Unit 3, we will be reflecting upon our central idea (People of the World have varying Rights and Responsibilities) and thinking about the skills, concepts and knowledge we have developed during this unit. We will be beginning our new unit in the following week.
Sunday 22nd February - This will be Day 4 as the Staff Professional Development Days do not count as school days.
Have a great weekend everyone.
