Dear Parents, Please find attached a flyer and letter explaining the UAE National Day events at GIS. Also, UAE National Day does not count as a day in the cycle. We look forward to welcoming you all to GIS to be part of this celebration on December 1st, 2014.
Dear Parents,
On Monday, December 1st, GIS will hold a celebration in honor of UAE National Day. As part of the celebration, we would like to invite you to share in some, or all of the day with us here at school. We will host 2 assemblies, the first for KG – Grade 2 and the second for Grades 3 – 8. Afterwards at 10:30 AM we will all gather downstairs and sing the UAE National Anthem to coincide with the record breaking attempt taking place at Wellington Academy, Dubai Silicon Oasis. Throughout the day, the students will be involved in making crafts, flags and learning about the UAE along with visiting different ‘stations’ such as Henna, Face Painting and Arabic Writing. All of the GIS community including children, staff and parents are encouraged to wear traditional UAE dress or the colors of the UAE. Homeroom parents will also receive an email from Gillian Benson, our Parent Representative and we will be asking for your support to bring traditional Arabic Food or supplies on the day. More detailed information about this and the general program will follow in the coming days. We really do hope you can join us for this wonderful celebration. Dear parents, On the 26th November we are glad to announce that juggling musician “Emir Corbo” will be coming into GIS to perform 3 separate shows. We feel that this is a great opportunity for the children to see something magical and for them to be exposed to something new and unknown. From a P.E perspective, the majority of the school are currently exploring manipulative skills and we hope that the show will teach and inspire them to learn the value of practice and dedication. The cost per child is 10 AED and if you please give it to the classroom teacher as soon as possible that would be great. Thanks. We have been impressed by the effort that many students in Grade Four are making. They are completing homework tasks in time and many are really shining with their efforts to do extra work......often to an impressive standard! However, there are many students who are not completing the minimum of tasks set. Please support your child to create a homework routine at home. All homework tasks are posted on to Edmodo so that they can keep track and manage their work load. Ask your child to show you how the diary/organiser function works. Thank you very much for your continued support. We have been creating our water investigations this week linked to evaporation.
Please talk to your child about what they are going to do and how they are going to do this. We will be carrying out the investigations on Sunday. We will have the basic resources in school, but please check their plans if there is anything special that they need for example, milk and coke. Thank you! Just a reminder that all of the BYOD must be fully charged before they come to school. Also, students must make sure that they bring their laptops everyday - especially on specific IT lesson days (G4A = Day 3, G4B = Day 6).
