Here is some information about our learning for the week beginning 15th March
Maths
- Use letter-number pairs and ordered pairs of numbers to locate points on a grid
- Practice using a map scale.
- Introduction of latitude and longitude for location on a globe
- Partial-quotient division using 2 digit divisor
Language
- Reading: Please keep supporting reading at home. Remember to record when you listen to your child read in their green book. Please add comments as this supports our assessments and planning.
-Spellings: New spellings were put on Edmodo on Sunday. They will be tested on Thursday.
-Grammar: We will be looking at superlative adjectives (biggest, best, fastest) and comparative adjectives(big, bigger; small, smaller).
-Writing: Students will write an explanation about:
What a simple machine is
The six different simple machines
Compound machines.
Unit of Inquiry
Create a timeline that charts the evolution of an invention and all/significant it's innovations
Collect important dates, inventors, pictures showing innovation.....
tudents organise the pictures and information into chronological order; Students will then write a reflection explaining the evolution of their chosen invention; Students will make predictions for the future.
Present the Summative Assessment Task.
How could we plan for this? What do we need to consider?
Look at the planning process for a design task. Begin drafting ideas for the design and construction.
What plans or designs did you create yesterday?
What simple machines are evident in your work?
What resources will you need?
What safety aspects will you need to consider?
Students begin to plan.
Prototypes and explorations to be made.
